Gheorghe
Iacomi was borned on 19th of April 1914, at Piatra Neamţ. He graduated
the Medicine University in Bucharest with "magna cum laude"
and then the Phd. in medical science. He worked as internal doctor in
Bucharest, surgeon in the Second Earth War, doctor in Piatra Neamţ,
director at the Hunedoara County Hospital. Since 1952 he have lived
in Piatra Neamţ, where he founded and developed a real surgery school. Author of 66 articles and speciality studies, he invented an intesive therapy bed. In 1981 he was awarded with the "Golden Scalpel", and in 1997 he was entitled "citizen of honour" of Piatra Neamţ (after-death). He was a famous local tourist, path-opener in mountain tourism, member in Roumanian Alpine Club since 1939 and presidend of "Friends of Ceahlău Mountain" Association; he organised the "Mountain Courier" contest (first edition in 1974). He had identified the names and the legends of the "stones" on Ceahlău mountain. Touristics works: "Guide of the Ceahlău" (first edition in 1961, second edition in 1969), "Touristic Map of Ceahlău Mountain" (1982), "Ceahlău Mountain in Roumanian Spirituality" (1996 - in colaboration), "From the Past of Monachal and Christian Life in Ceahlău area", 1998. He died on the 18th of October 1991 in Piatra Neamţ. |
